Another Bastard

This bot was originally going to be Autonomous Bastard 2.0 - but I fried my one and only sensor the other day (always order things in pairs). With Da Vinci days this coming weekend - I was running out of time - and wanted to be sure I could enter something - so I decided to fall back to a non-autonomous design.

Still plenty of knowledge and programing from the build attempt though - there will be an Auto B 2.0 in the not too far future.

In the mean time - and a bunch of hack and slashing later - Another Bastard is born.

Specs:
Body: Titanium (lexan top)
Battery: 1300ma 2 cell lipo
Drive: Tamiya "fast" gearbox
ESC: Scorpion HP
Weapon Motor: Speed 400 7.2v
Blade: 2.5oz (cut down skill-saw)

The bot is extremely fast - but I think I've got it tuned so its moderately controllable.

The blade setup is much faster than I thought it would be. I think this is due to the battery being so large as to not allow for much voltage dip. It can probably go three fights without recharging.

Its a much more destructive setup than anything I've done before. Even though the blade is in theory "balanced" - it makes a lot of noise. I'm a bit concerned about it shaking itself apart.

The Scorpion ESC over-heats if its run at part throttle with any significant load (this is a good argument for using a Barrello + Electrifly setup instead) - so I can't keep the blade at part throttle like I usually do (this part of the reason I'm using a 7.2v Speed 400 instead of a 4.8v).

If I turn fast enough in the right direction with the blade spinning - I can flip the entire bot using centrifugal force. So in addition to be invertible - its self-righting. I can also make it "dance" on one wheel - physics can do strange things - too much fun...
