Spam Promises Magical Powers

Apparently promises of enhancing your manhood and getting rich in the stock market weren't braggadocio enough.

The latest round of spam makes the biggest promise of all: magical powers.

Here are some recent subject lines from messages caught by the SpamButcher spam blocker program:

All of the country is abuzz about Witchcraft - the power to cast effective spells that make your wildest dreams come true! Love, power, money, revenge... it's all finally yours... *IF* you know the secret spells, that is!

No longer do you need do you need to look to spammers for stock market tips to make you rich or pay them to hook your up with a Russian bride.

You can use another spammer's services to obtain magical powers - then use them to become wealthy, crush your enemies and make your wee-wee bigger. Clearly this presents a much more efficient use of your hard-earned money.

It could only be better if the message was sent by someone claiming to be a genie - offering you three wishes in exchange for your credit card information.

A perusal of intercepted unwanted messages reveals a common theme. Very often spammers are pitching something which is painfully too good to be true. People with good common sense know better than to expect quality services and products out of unsolicited marketers.

Spammers go for the bottom of the barrel - people who want something so desperately that they are willing to suspend their disbelief to take a remote stab at getting it.

There's sucker born every minute.
