The Spam Shredder

Bill Shackelford is a unique artist of sorts.

His latest creation - Spamtrap is a device that is setup to receive spam e-mail, print it out, and then shred it.

One may question the environmental soundness of this technique to deal with spam. However, Bill assures everyone that the paper is recycled - so presumably all that's wasted is a little energy.

It is physically composed of a PC, a printer, and a shredder. Presumably at least some special software was created handle automating the reception and printing of the spam. The printouts appear to be guided into the shredder by rails.

Bill specifically published email addresses for the Spamtrap online for spambots to pickup. This insures that the Spamtrap gets spam and only spam.

Since spam sent to the Spamtrap was intentionally generated - it's not really eliminating the unwanted emails it receives. However, the Spamtrap also automatically reports the offending messages to online blacklist services. They can then use the data to help other email servers avoid unsolicited messages from the same IP addresses.
