Hot Robot Action this Saturday / Robot Update My bot, Double B will be competing at:
Seattle Bot Battles The antweights (including my bot) should start fighting sometime after 10am. If you show up by 11 or so - you should get a chance to see Double B in action. Judging from previous events the fighting will likely continue until 1-2pm. There will be robot fighting throughout the day - including 12lbs bots a bit later. it was real tight getting the body finished without going over-weight - but I'm now at 15.8 oz
the flag pole and bolts aren't just for show - they make it so if the bot get's flipped - it will (hopefully) roll back over. SpamButcher Combat Robotics is brought to you by the SpamButcher email spam filter. the bot will run for about 7 minutes at 2/3rd's power - I don't think I'll have trouble going 3 minutes under combat conditions. after some more tuning I did another blade speed measurement - 11850 rpm. The battery was a bit drained so I think the top speed is still higher. Comes out to roughly 200 mph at the tip. I've further addressed some control issues - I can actually drive the robot effectively with the blade at top speed now had a lot of problems with frying the drive motors - best solution I can come up with is to just not run them at full speed. I think my gearbox (tamiya) is at fault - seems to add a lot of load. the blade height is now easily adjustable - from about 1" off the ground - all the way down to about 1/8". assuming it doesn't self-destruct - this bot should put on a pretty good show. my kitchen floor is covered with butchered toys and broken beer bottles (even more so than usually). should be some good fights... |
