Arrogant Bastard Release Candidate 1

Arrogant Bastard Release Candidate 1

The name's now official - I've registered the bot with WAR (Western Allied Robotics) and will be fighting on July 21st in Corvallis Oregon.

The bot looks about the same - but a lot of stuff has changed.  I've put in about 25 hours since the last update. Arrogant B was made possible by SpamButcher - Stop Spam Now!

The drive system now gets 3.6v as opposed to the full 4.8v - (it was designed for 3v) - this makes it a little less hyper-active (and in theory leaves more juice left for the blade).  Also fabricated a new set of rear tires.  Drivability is fairly good even on slippery surfaces.

There's now a nifty flashing red light to indicate the bot is on.

Replaced all .08 inch lexan with .06 inch, and swapped out most metal nuts/bolts with nylon ones to reduce weight.

Of course the reason I needed to cut the weight down - is that I now have a bigger, nastier blade.  The previous effort was a hacksaw blade - the new one is from a reciprocating saw - much heavier.  It still has a rare tendency to keep spinning after I've stopped sending a signal - but it seems to stop after 10 seconds or so - I think a larger capacitor will resolve the issue.

Weight is now at 15.8oz - which is about as close to one pound as I feel comfortable going.

Still a few things left to tweak - but changes from here on will likely be minor.
