If you like BattleBots, you might be interested in dropping by Gasworks
Park this Sunday (April 14th), as Western Allied Robotics (WAR) will be
sponsoring the first-ever Northwest Antweight Competition.
Antweights are bots that weigh no more than 1 pound. Sound pretty wimpy?
Well, one bot that will be appearing at this competition wields a gas-powered
spinning weapon that works itself up to 4000 RPM. The battlebox that has been
constructed for this event is 6'x6', and from what I'm told, will feature a set
of killsaws. There will be bots constructed by some of the competitors from
BattleBots - several of them are local, and some have sent robots from across
the country to compete here.
Competitor check-in begins at 9, and the combat begins at 11. So far,
around 20 bots are signed up to compete in a double-elimination format.
My partner will be competing with her first bot, THEM - come on down and
cheer us on!
