"Global Remove Lists" Are Scams

This is a great article on SpamHaus regarding "Global Remove Lists." This stuff makes my blood boil. There are basically companies charging people for membership to a list - which is nothing but that. It's just a list.

Spammers rarely honor opt-out requests to their own lists. There is no reason to believe they collectively purchase some arbitrary company's list, and remove those addresses from their they send unwanted emails to.

I guess the people who buy this kind of things are the same ones who purchase SpamButcher, don't install it, and then wonder why their spam problem hasn't gone away.

(Yes, SpamButcher does issue refunds to the poor souls incapable of understanding the notion of spam mail blocking software.)

I have some sympathy - but on the other hand, these people probably shouldn't be making online purchases with their Visa cards.
