Then UXN Spam Combat is a great site to check out. Among other anti-spam utilities, they offer a tool to decode obfuscated URLs.

Once you've determined the actual IP address behind the URL, you can then use their Whois, NSLookup and Traceroute features to figure out who really sent you the spam.

These spam tools are especially useful when trying to analyze a potential scam or "phishing" attempt. Sometimes scammer's emails are so clever - you have to really view the message source and break down the message to figure out if the message is really from your bank or not (tip - it almost neve r is).
