Sunshine and Spam from Florida

It turns out that many spammers reside in Florida as opposed to the usual suspects of New York, California, Russia and Asia.

Florida is enacting legislation spam prevention soon in an effort to reduce the flow of spam.

Many major spammers such as the Discounts Home Shopping Club actually reside in Florida. Some recognize Florida as the "spam capital" of the world - or at least the United States.

Taking legal action against spam has generally not shown itself to be effective. Numerous federal and state laws have failed to have significant effect on problems with unwanted junk email. So far using an anti-spam filter is the only effective spam control for end users.

One reason for Florida's popularity with spammers is its easy bankruptcy laws. If things go sour with a spam operation - it's easy to get bailed out.
