Spammer Settles Case in NYThe New York attorney general, Eliot Spitzer indicated that a settlement had been concluded with Scott Richter - a major spammer. His company, OptinRealBig.com is responsible for spreading misery to email recipients worldwide. The settlement totals $40,000 in fines, and $10,000 towards the money used investigating the case. For the record, OptinRealBig is such a major spammer, that this product's email filter is hard-coded to detect their messages. Usually the filter picks up subtle patterns in the message in order to determine if it's spam or not. Messages from this company have a track record of being extremely difficult to detect, so a more brute-force method was adopted. They are truly the worst of the worst offenders. Unfortunately Scott Richter will not be doing any jail time.
