Don't Like Spam? Communicate Without Email.

The idea behind "dmail" is to communicate without using email as we know it. No email - no spam mail - right?

Instead of sending messages to each other - people `post' them to shared online bulletin boards - kind of like web forums - where they are common members.

The idea basically dates back to the bulletin boards of the 1980's(remember 300bps?).

The crass folks at Slashdot poo-poo the idea - but I think it may have some merit. Email isn't nearly the reliable mechanism it used to be.

Client-side anti-spam software does stop spam - but it can't address the other points unreliability that have been cropping up. ISP's over-zealous to block spam email have resulted in millions of lost legitimate messages.

There's a couple problems though - some unethical folks are `spamming' online forums with links to their websites / etc. Of course I'm sure you could develop some sort of spam protection system for the forum - but what if it deleted a wanted post... and here we go again...
