Hot Glue

It should be noted that there's two main kinds of hot glue - not-so-hot and really hot.

You want the really hot stuff. The really hot stuff requires a hotter gun. Make sure to use the "hot" hot glue with your hotter gun. The dual-temperature glue isn't quite the same.

Be careful - the really hot stuff, is well, really hot.

Hot glue seems to work on just about everything to some extent. It's especially good for plastics like lexan.

There's also "heavy duty" hot glue - which tends to be yellow.

I've found if you sand two pieces of lexan, then bond them using the heavy duty glue - they are virtually impossible to get apart.

Hot glue is highly impact resistant. It's great for things like securing motor leads or even making a sloppy motor mount.

The only downsides are that its tensile strength isn't as good as super glue, and doesn't bond that well to metal.

3M Super Strength Exterior Mounting Tape

This stuff is incredibly strong. It sticks well initially - but after a day or so it really toughens up.

It's great for mounting electronics or servos. Very impact resistant. Seems to bond better to metal than hot glue.

IC-2000 "Tire Glue" (Super Glue with Rubber)

This is a special super glue made with rubber. Like other CA based glues - it sticks very well to a wide variety of materials. The rubber gives it a bit of flex - so it's less likely to crack under stress.

If used with the accelerator it dries almost instantly. The best technique seems to be to apply the accelerator to one of the items to be bonded, and the glue to the other. Let most of the accelerator evaporate before joining the two objects.
