Some Users Give Up On The Internet Due To Spam and Spyware

A growing number of users have a new stance on spam and spyware.

They've given up on trying to block spammers from sending junk mail to their inbox and cleaning their systems of spyware.

In fact - they've given up all together.

Not sure how to stop unwanted email or block pop-up adds, they've decided to resort to life offline.

They may still continue using their computers, but they use them offline.

The problems with spam and spyware seem to have compounded in recent years. This can be blamed on many factors including the increased availability of broadband, new security holes in various Microsoft products, and the growth of the net itself.

Even Bill Gates himself has acknowledged finding spyware on his computer. This may be part of the reason Microsoft has recently been motivated to release its Antispyware product into beta. Microsoft still has no public plans to release a free spam filter for Outlook Express.

Some spyware, or more accurately "malware" can itself be used by spammers to send unwanted email from thousands of different computers. This can improve the messages odds of making it past mail blocker programs.

While it's presumably a fairly small minority who've quit the net cold turkey, countless more have curtailed their online activities due to malware, spyware and spam.
