More Drugs, Less Sex in Spam

According to America Online's recently released list of top 10 spam terms - less sex related, and more drug related spams are being sent.

Out of the list - only one of the most popular subject lines suggested sexually explicit content. Last year three of the top mail spam were sex related. The top term pitched an arthritis relief drug.

It should be noted however that several of last years subjects filed as being explicit referred to Viagra - which could of course be alternately filed as drug related.

AOL's study seems to be fairly unscientific - so its difficult to make any projections about future trends.

AOL has recently employed better technology to block spam - and its effect on the rankings is somewhat unclear. AOL has however claimed that the amount of spam stopped by its spam stopper is down in contrast to the prior year.
