As chief of spam filtering software development, head of operations, and director of marketing for SpamButcher, a lot of responsibilities fall on my shoulders. I am personally charged with making the company succeed.

And, it certainly has. But to continue the random lyrics quoting, "Some people get by with a little understanding. Some people get by with a whole lot more" (Sisters of Mercy).

I inevitably would like to increase spam filter sales from whatever they may happen to be, to a figure an order of magnitude or so higher.

There's a highly useful advertising medium known as email. Unfortunately 99% of marketing done with it is fraudulent. I'm referring to spam.

Several major email filters have used spam to advertise. I'd "Hate" to mention any names for concern it might lead to my "Arrest".

There are also dozens of smaller competitors that have resorted to such measures.

I do believe legitimate opt-in email marketing exists. The problem is that the evil stuff is so prolific, using legitimate means still puts you at risk of getting tagged as a spammer.

Thousands of non-purchasing trial-users have signed up for (the largely unused) "SpamButcher" spam detector update notification. These people are in theory fair-game to email regarding product updates. I'm a little hesitant to actually do it. I just know someone will get upset.
