Lamest Study Ever: Spam Does Not Promote Healthy Living

There's been a story circulating around the internet titled to the effect, "Can spam be good for you? Possibly..."

Apparently a recent study suggested that receiving daily affirmative messages aimed at promoting nutrition and exercise can help produce healthy life style changes.

This is not spam. Presumably the participants of the study opted to receive such messages. If they didn't specifically choose to receive them, they certainly consented to some level of more general intrusion into their lives by the researchers.

The study did not reveal what portion of the messages were intercepted by spam busters.

This seems to be another case of journalists having nothing to actually right about. Someone poor soul released a press release who wanted a technology tie-in, and they managed to get it.

The messages were not spam by any reasonable definition. Spam is not good for you any more than junk physical mail or unwanted phone commercial phone calls are.

On the flip side, I continually receive messages suggesting that I can "enlarge my unit." Maybe someone is really trying to tell me something.
