Anti spam software company Clearswift claims that spam advertising questionable investments has been on the rise. Clearswift's software operates server-side as opposed to acting as a spam blocker for Outlook or Outlook Express. This lets them collect data on spamming trends.

According to it's data-tracking system, it's gone up over 400% between December and January. Financial related spam now makes up about 1 in 6 junk emails. Clearswift's manager says that people are increasingly aware of the issue, but less savvy users are still staking the bait.

That still doesn't hold a match to healthcare related junk email. According to the same company, it comprises over 44% of all unwanted commercial messages.
