Latest Wave of Russian Spam Pitches B2B Services

As mentioned previously, I've been getting tons of mysterious Russian spam sent to my inbox for the last week or so. My curiosity finally got the better of me - so I stuck a few into Google's translator to find out exactly what all the buzz is about.

Due to the way the messages were composed, I had originally assumed they were related to pirated software. The translator revealed they were actually pitching business-to-business (B2B) services.

That last one was particularly interesting. While we don't create embedded systems professionally at SpamButcher, our site does have information on embedded systems as part of our combat robotics program. Maybe someday we'll intermix our disciplines and create some kind of embedded message filtering system.

It should also be noted that the messages are only going to my SpamButcher related accounts. At very least, it looks like these spammers are targeting messages found on website contact pages. It's purely speculative, but they may also be crawling the sites and attempting to send spam related directly to the targeted business.

Now if only they'd figure out that I don't speak Russian!
