Lowermybills.com - Don't Do It

The gloves are off - I'm going to name the mortgage rate site you should avoid. It's lowermybills.com.

According to their website, Lowermybills.com offers "Easy Comparisons. More Choices. Bigger Savings."

Bullshit they do. All lowermybills.com does is forward your information to various lenders who proceed to email and call you for the next week.

I've lost track - but I've gotten something around 8 emails (is this technically spam email? I'm not sure) and maybe a dozen phone calls at this point.

Now, in all fairness - they do tell you that they're going to do this. The last page before committing your information looks something like this:

You have been matched!
Please select 5 of these 6 lenders to get your free quotes by checking or unchecking the boxes below.

So, yes they did exactly what they promised. Did I notice the fine type when I first filled out the form? No...

Now, I still haven't gotten any, "tertiary" spam from submitting my information - yet. I've only gotten emails from the lenders I said I wanted quotes from. I did use one little trick to make sure my misstep doesn't result in a future problem with unwanted email. I gave them a special address - one unique only to my interactions with them. If that address starts to get junk, I'll just set my spam catcher to start blocking that address.

After the fact, you get the following (and a deep sinking feeling you just screwed up):
