Technical Issue: SpamButcher Requires Working Shift Key

Often I get support emails like:

Subject: STILL GETTING SPAM!!!
"I JUST BOUGHT SPAM SNIPER PRO - BUT I STILL GET LOTS OF SPAM. WHEN WILL IT START WORKING?"

I tried to help this user get SpamButcher working, but we never did sort things out. We did manage to get the actual product installed on their system, but we never got much further than that.

My email: "If you click the 'Check Now' button in SpamButcher, do you get an error message?"

Their email: "YES!!!"

My email: "Ok, now, what did the error message say?"

Their email: "IT SAID IT DIDN'T WORK."

Now, I'm pretty familiar with the source code behind our anti-spam email program, and all the various error messages it can produce. Some are more informative than others, but I don't believe it ever responds with just "it didn't work."

Maybe they were actually getting the infamous, "Active X Failed to Instantiate Object - 44916 (no worky)" message.

It turns out the user in question had purchased SpamButcher, and I did give them their money back under our 30-day money-back guarantee. I never figured out what "Spam Sniper Pro" is.

So, in the end, I can reach only one conclusion:

SpamButcher doesn't work for users with stuck shift keys or are otherwise experiencing issues with CAPS-LOCK engagement.
