SpamButcher should still catch the majority of spam. Normal This is the default filter setting for SpamButcher. It should catch the vast majority of spam with very few false positives. Most users should leave this selected. Aggressive This option will cause SpamButcher to more aggressively filter spam. It is also more likely to inadvertently filter out legitimate e-mail. Selecting this option will also automatically enable DNS Blacklist support. Attempt to block messages with dangerous attachments Enabling the option causes SpamButcher to attempt to block dangerous attachments of this listed types. Custom Filters and Attachment Blocking can override Known Good Senders By default Known Good Senders override all other filters. Enabling this option causes Custom Filters and Attachment Blocking to take first priority. This may be useful for filtering out e-mail worms which may originate from Known Good Senders. Permanently delete messages that are almost certainly spam This option completely deletes some messages highly likely to be spam without sending them to the intercepted spam list first. This reduces the number of messages the user must sift through when reviewing their intercepted spam list or spam reports. Warning: Enabling this option causes some deleted messages to never be reported to the user. These messages are also not recoverable once deleted. Examples of messages this option may delete:
- Messages from networks known to have serious spam problems
Warning: This will also cause SpamButcher to block legitimate delivery failure reports and other warning messages from your mail server. It may also cause problems for some challenge-response anti-spam systems.
Most users should leave this option off.
